Client Gate+

As of January 16, 2025, the Hungarian government has transitioned from the “Client Gate” (Ügyfélkapu) system to the enhanced “Client Gate+” (Ügyfélkapu Plusz) service. This platform serves as a single access point for individuals to engage with various Hungarian e-government services, enabling users to manage administrative tasks online, such as tax filings, official document requests, and appointment bookings with government offices.

Who Can Register for Client Gate+?

Registration is open to any individual, regardless of nationality, who is recorded in one of the following Hungarian registries:

  • The Hungarian personal data and address registry.
  • The central immigration registry of the Hungarian Immigration Authority.
  • The personal registry for foreign citizens applying for electronic administration.

Registration Process

Foreign nationals can register for Client Gate+ through the following methods:

  1. In Person:
    • Locations:
      • Local government service offices (commonly known as “kormányablak”).
      • Key helpdesk offices of the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV).
      • Designated post office helpdesks.
      • Hungarian diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
    • Required Documents:
      • Valid passport.
      • Proof of address in Hungary (if applicable).
    • Procedure:
      • Visit the chosen registration location with the necessary documents.
      • Complete the registration form provided.
      • Undergo identity verification.
      • Upon successful verification, you will receive confirmation and access credentials for your Client Gate+ account.
  2. Online:
    • Eligibility: This option is available to individuals holding a valid Hungarian ID card issued after January 1, 2016.
    • Procedure:

Important Considerations

  • Transition to Client Gate+: With the introduction of Client Gate+ on January 16, 2025, users of the previous Client Gate system are encouraged to migrate to the new platform to continue accessing e-government services seamlessly.
